Clark Rubber Offers The Highest Quality Foams

Clark Rubber is an Australian retailing institution that dates back to 1946.

Their 60 locations across Australia are experts in pools, foam, and rubber, a genuinely unique position in the Australian retail industry. Families, professionals, amateurs, and businesses, to mention a few, are among thei diversified consumer base, which is comprised of such a large variety of products.

In 1946, Charlesworth and Clark formed a partnership to establish Clark Matting and Rubber, the company’s ancestor. The company grew rapidly and was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1951. The name was changed to Clark Rubber Stores in 1961.

Adsteam Group acquired Clark Rubber in 1982 and continued to operate the business until 1994. At this time, the Clark Rubber name and logo were transferred to Vita Pacific, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Dunlop, and the store network was discontinued.

Chris Malcolm, a veteran in Australian retail, stepped in at this time. After lengthy talks, Vita Pacific granted Chris a license to use the Clark Rubber brand. 1995 saw the reopening of the first Clark Rubber store in Nunawading, Victoria, after the company determined that a franchise model was the most effective method to expand an already-successful brand. By 1998, Clark Rubber had launched its 50th store and was once again one of the most recognizable retail brands in Australia.

In 2000, Chris Malcolm acquired Clark Rubber from Pacific Dunlop, and the retail network continued to expand. In 2003, Clark Rubber was named the “Entry Capital Over $200,000” category Franchisor of the Year by the Franchise Council of Australia. Chris Malcolm was inducted into the Franchise Council of Australia’s Hall of Fame the same year. Three years later, Clark Rubber was granted the highest honor by the Franchise Council of Australia: Franchisor of the Year.

Under the management of CRG Operations, Clark Rubber launched an exciting new chapter in the year 2020. The new ownership, led by Edward Plowman, Graeme Goldman, and John Weste, has ambitious plans for this renowned 75-year-old brand’s next chapter. With an increased head office team and store network, a vastly better omnichannel strategy, and enhanced product/service offerings, especially in the pool and spa area, Clark Rubber will further solidify its position as the one-stop shop for Everything Pools Foam & Rubber.
